On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vinicius de Moraes' birth, Correo Uruguayo pays homage to him by issuing a sheetlet depicting the work "Black Orpheus", film based in a play written by him. Vinicius' play was an adaptation of the Greek legend of Orpheus and Eurydice, and besides writing the screenplay he included in the plot of the film some of his songs. Vinicius together with Tom Jobim and Joao Gilberto, were part of the renovation of Brazilian music. This trinity was destined to catapult to fame this great South American country and its art all around the world; achievement similar to that of Carmen Miranda's music in the '40s. Marcos Vinicius da Cruz e Melo Moraes, or 'poetinha' (little poet), as he liked to be called was born the 19th October, 1913. He died on the 9th July, 1980 in his house located in the neighborhood of Gavea, near the Botanic Garden.

En el centenario de su nacimiento, Correo Uruguayo homenajea al poeta Vinicius de Moraes con el lanzamiento de la Hoja Filatelica, donde se representa la obra "Orfeo Negro", película basada en una obra teatral en donde Vinicius hizo la adaptación y escribió el libreto, incluyendo además en la trama algunas de sus canciones. Vinicius conformó, junto al gran Tom Jobim y Joao Gilberto, la trinidad de la renovación musical brasileña, destinada a catapultar al gran país sudamericano y su arte nuevamente por el mundo, en un suceso equivalente al generado por la mítica Carmen Miranda en los años cuarenta. La vida de Marcos Vinicius da Cruz e Melo Moraes, el 'poetinha' como le gustaba ser llamado y creador de la bossa nova, comenzó un 19 de octubre de 1913. Murió el 9 de julio de 1980 en su casa en el barrio de Gavea, cerca de Jardín Botánico.
